I've been working on a blog post for the last few weeks but it just wasn't saything anything intereting, so I deleted it. Which is apt, because the post was mostly about going through projects underway and ditching the ones that were no longer speaking to me.

So I started working on this post on things I've actually finished, and realised that I've been on quite a rainbow kick lately.

I've been embroidering these little brooches. The felt is from a shawl that I wove but never managed to sell, so I felted it and then cut it up.

I really like the clouds, especially the one with the chain and beads, but the cherry blossoms are lovely too. These all have pin backs and are ready to be sold at the next Canberra Spinners and Weavers exhibition.

This shawl is also ready for the exhibition.

This is the Escalera Wrap by Aklori Designs, in handspun wool. I bought the 6 main colours of the rainbow from Felting Ewe, who has an amazing range of colours in 22 micron Australian Merino. I used my drum carder to make batts of both pure colour and batts that combine two adjacent colours to make transitional colours. I then spun all the batts into yarn and crocheted this shawl. I really love how it turned out and I'm looking forward to seeing it on display.

And I've been dabbling in 'art' art, with acrylic paint markers again.

This is a wooden dinosaur I picked up from Big W. I looked up a few different realistic colourways for T. rex as inspiration but couldn't decide on which one to go with... so I apparently went with a totally unrealistic robot space rainbow colourway. I love it. It is ridiculous and fun and utterly pointless. And shiny. The red gem for its eye is a rhinestone I pulled off one of my stitch markers. Bam. Mixed media. Look at me go.

In other news, 2024 is done and dusted and thank fuck for that. I'd say let's hope for a better 2025, but honestly with the second Trump inaugeration, and early federal Budget, federal election (and likely hung Parliament) and the solar maximum, plus all the things that aren't even on the horizon yet, it's highly unlikely the next year will be nice. Will the Doomsday clock move closer to midnight in January? Probably.

Just gotta see what the year will bring, I guess.

AI use statement

I sometimes hand write posts on a TCL NXTPAPER tablet that uses an AI Large Language Model (LLM) to convert my handwriting to text.

I do not intentionally use generative AI in anything that I make but note that I use apps (Microsoft Office, Canva, etc) that have integrated AI. These may have hidden AI 'features' operating in the background or offer assets that may be AI generated and not labelled as such.

To the best of my knowledge any content made by other people that I use or link to does not use generative AI.
