Spinning season!
Apr. 12th, 2026 02:32 pmI haven't posted in a while, I've had a bit of life and a bit of ennui get in the way. But I'm excited for
3weeks4dreamwidth and would like to post more.
This morning I set up my spinning nook and started spinning yarn on my wheel. I've been really looking forward to doing this because I find spinning a really soothing and enjoyable way to start the day. My nook is next to some large north-facing windows where sunlight will pour in later in the year when the sun gets lower. I'm a little early for those glorious mornings, but I figured if I'm so looking forward to spinning, why wait longer? The future is so very uncertain.
Here's my spinning setup.

And the wonderful view from my chair.

My wheel had a spinning project packed up with it from last year, so I didn't even need to brain what I wanted to work on.
This project is 1 and 3/4 braids of the same colour, which I broke up into colour chunks to spin into a mottled gradient. I've finished the first 3 colours and I'm working on the second to last.

This is the bobbin. I started with the light blue yarn on the right already spun and added the rest this morning.

My spinning soundtrack today: The Wild with Chris Morgan and Nightmare Magazine.
And while I'm posting, here's 2 finished items that just finished drying.
A pair of large handknit socks. These will likely go to Winter Sockstice Festival in Dubbo as a charity fundraiser.

And a handwoven scarf in commercial and handspun yarn. Really pleased with how this turned out. It's got a lot of intentional texture and is quite squishy.
